Dr. Kenneth Kang (2015 - 2016)

Spectrum Learning Pte Ltd

Dr Kang was a certified Neurofeedback therapist, and natural health practitioner with a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. He also completed a post-graduate Diploma in Education at the National Institute of Education in Singapore.

In his early career as an educator prior to founding Spectrum Learning, Dr Kang strongly believed in the active role of the brain in one's learning—that its function and performance can be improved. This was the spark that ignited Spectrum Learning's brain-based approach in enhancing learning abilities and improving brain function that has developed and grown into the sophisticated intervention programme Spectrum Learning offers today.

Dr Kang knew that dealing with the brain is a multifaceted discipline, and upholds a holistic approach to the intervention programmes offered at Spectrum Learning; balancing biochemistry through a healthy and controlled diet, physical exercise, and changing attitudes is essential in Spectrum Learning's intervention programmes. Dr Kang's strive and dedication had shaped who and where Spectrum Learning is today.

Prof Dato Dr Susie See

Dato' Prof Dr. See Ching Mey has a B.A. (Hons), the post-graduate Diploma in Education, and a Master of Education from Universiti Malaya. She holds a PhD from the Ohio State University. She was a professor at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) from 1998 to 2016. She was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Community Network) from 2011 until retirement in 2016. Prior to this, she was USM's Quality Assurance Manager from 2010 to 2014.

Dato' Prof Dr. See is currently a consultant educational and counseling psychologist at the Loh Guan Lye Specialist Centre in Penang and adjunct professor in University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and in Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC). She was a member for 12 years of the statutory Board of Counselors, Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development which governs the licensing and registration of counseling professionals. She remains as an advisor to this Board.

She was appointed Non-executive Chairman of the Unimech Group Berhad on March 15, 2018. In addition to her academic, research and management responsibilities, she maintains an active clinical practice providing counseling, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, neurofeedback, HRV biofeedback, and treatment for all age groups. She devotes a considerable amount of her time to voluntary service in the community. She is, since 1989, the volunteer Principal at the Lions REACh Centre for Autistic Children in Penang. She is also a committee member of Persatuan Mind D'Home, an NGO advocating for mental health.

She is internationally recognized for her expertise in her field and is often invited to speak and conduct workshops overseas. Dato' Prof Dr. See has published over 100 papers in international and national academic journals, 20 books and 28 chapters in books. She has also held many high positions in a number of international professional organizations such as the Association of Psychological and Educational Counselors of Asia-Pacific (APECA); the East Asia division of the International Play Association (IPA), the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), Asia-Pacific University-Community Engagement Network (APUCEN), Penang Association of Counseling and Psychology (PACP). Currently, she is the president of the Asia Pacific Neuro-biofeedback Association (APNA) and advisor for South East Asian Affairs of the East Asia Federation for Adult Education (EAFAE).

Ohio State University (OSU) has given her the rare distinction of being an overseas alumni receiving recognition for her professional activities. She was awarded the 100 Buckeyes from the OSU Alumni Association Inc. in 2012; the Susan Jones Sears Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009; and the 2007 Alumni Citizenship Award. In 2016, she was inducted into the International Adult Continuing Education Hall of Fame, University of Oklahoma Outreach.

Nationally, she has been recognised for her community service. She received the Best Service Award from the Scouts Association of Malaysia in 2010; the 2005 Sin Chew Da Ai Award (Sin Chew Kind Heart Award) in 2006; the District Governor’s Award from the International Association of Lions Clubs in 1996-1997; the Lioness of the Year Challenge Trophy from the International Association of Lions Clubs in 1985-1986. In 2007 she was honored with the DPSN which carries the title Dato' by the State Government of Penang.

Assoc Prof Dr. Nidal Kamel

EE Engineering, UTP

Dr. Nidal Kamel is a telecommunication specialist with expertise in statistical signal processing. He received his master and PhD degrees from the Technical University of Gdansk, Poland, in 1989 and 1994, respectively. Since 1994, he has been involved in various research projects related to statistical signal/image processing, including brain neuroimaging and video tensors processing.

He held an associate professor position at the Technical University of PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia and played an instrumental role in establishing the Neuro Signal Processing Group at the national Center of Intelligent Signal and Image Research (CISIR). Dr. Kamel's research work focused on brain disorder assessment using different neuroimaging modalities. He also collaborated with the autonomous driving research group at the University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard, France, working on video tensor processing techniques.

He is an IEEE senior member and serves as the vice president of the Asia Pacific Neurofeedback Association (APNA).

Dr. Panu Khuwuthyakorn

Saunprung Psychiatric Hospital

Dr. Khuwuthyakorn is a well-respected medical doctor in Chiang Mai. He graduated from Chiang Mai University and is board certified in psychiatry and family medicine. He previously worked at the National Psychiatric Institute, where he focused on mental health and addiction medicine. Currently he is a resident psychiatrist at Chiang Mai Psychiatric Hospital, a medical consultant at the Chiang Mai Methadone Clinic, a medical consultant at the Harm Reduction Centre and the Asian Mental Health Crisis Centre, and Chair of the Suicide Prevention Committee. He is certified in Addiction Medicine and is the leading medical doctor in Chiang Mai specialising in mental health, addiction and dual diagnosis.

Dr. Khuwuthyakorn is very experienced at working with mental health issues and addiction. He has treated hundreds of dual diagnosis patients who have co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. He oversees medication management and drug and alcohol detox, including methadone detox. He also works with specific mental health issues, including trauma related disorders, depression and anxiety.
